Fitness Floor Frequently Asked Questions

 

What age restrictions does the fitness floor have? 

Children under the age of 9 are not allowed on the fitness floor.

Children from ages 9-12 may use the following equipment once they have completed their fitness orientation. 

Cardio Equipment

  • Treadmill

  • Rowing Machine

  • Stationary Bike

  • Recumbent Bike

Weight Equipment ​

  • Chest Press​

  • Bicep Curl

  • Lat Pulldown

  • Leg Extension

  • Leg Press

  • Abdominal Crunch

  • Shoulder Press

  • Tricep Extension

  • Low Row 

  • Leg Curl

  • Low Back

  • Chin Dip Assist 

Children ages 13 and above are permitted to use the equipment on the fitness floor. 

How does my child complete their fitness orientation? 

Fitness staff will show your child how to use the equipment listed above. Once this has been completed, your child will receive a badge that they must wear, distinguishing that they are now "Fitness Orientation Certified." 

What equipment is on the fitness floor? 

The fitness floor has a variety of equipment including; free weights, cable weights, squat machines, stair climbers, ellipticals, bikes, and treadmills. 

How many laps around the track equals one mile? 

Lane 1 = 20.5 laps

Lane 2 = 19 laps 

Lane 3 = 17.75 laps 

What are the age restrictions to use the walking track?

Children under 9 are allowed on the track with direct adult supervision.  

 

Can I bring a stroller on the walking track? 

Strollers may be on the track from 12 pm-2 pm Monday-Friday. 

Are towels provided for members? 

Yes, the community center does provide towels for both sweat and sanitation. 

Proper Gym Etiquette

We encourage our members to practice proper gym etiquette when using our facilities. Proper etiquette includes; cleaning machines once you are finished, putting free weights away, wearing the proper attire, limit cell phone use, and being respectful of other members. 

What is the proper fitness attire?

All members must wear a shirt that covers the full torso and closed toe athletic shoes.  

How can I become familiar with exercise equipment and proper workout techniques if I'm new to a gym setting?

Members receive 1 complimentary equipment orientation that can be scheduled at the fitness desk. The floor is always staffed with coaches that can answer questions. More information can be found here.

Are group exercise classes included with my membership? 

Yes, group exercise classes are included with memberships.
